Plastic fruit

Plastic fruit is fruit made of plastic, used for display purposes where the object is not intended to be eaten or be especially realistic.

Plastic, being inexpensive and available in many colours, is good for making display fruit because it is less expensive than papier-mache (on a large scale), less time consuming, and doesn't spoil like real fruit.
