Internally heated hot runner
From Plastics Wiki, free encyclopedia
Internally heated runner systems require higher molding pressures, and color changes are very difficult. There are many places for material to hang up and degrade, so thermally sensitive materials should not be used.
[edit]
Advantages
- Improved distribution of heat
[edit]
Disadvantages
- Higher cost and complicated design.
- Requires careful balancing and sophisticated heat control.
- Should take into account thermal expansion of various mold components.
